Laziness and nothing to say

Did you notice that I got lazy?

Before, when I showed you a group of pictures from my beautiful black my touch, I gave you a nice collage to see what was coming.

This time, I just jumped right in and put them up with no introduction.

Actually, I didn't even tell you when the last collage was over.

I am getting lazy.

Thats ok though, because it's my blog and I can do that.

If I want to.

Also, did you notice that Going Out on a Limb has changed direction?

I used to try to write a lot.

But I'm not good at it.

And I don't have much to say. Sometimes.

So I started adding pictures.

I like that. A lot!

And things like this make me so happy.

I want to share them. With Everyone...

Enjoy!

Camron found it and is putting it to good use!

Snow Days

I was going to start out this post by saying that I don't normally take pictures while in the car.
I decided I better not say that, because lately, I've been doing that a lot.

Now that I have confessed, I want you to look at how beautiful our mountains look with snow.
I'm going to start keeping my phone in my pocket til I get home.

This proves it!

Kristy + Grandma = BF 4E

I was at work one day when Marvin came busting through the door and threw this bracelet at me. Then soon after he left my office, he sent me this text:

Marvin: That's from Kristy

Me: Oh? I thought you made it.

Marvin: Nope!

Me: Oh.
Thank you Monkey...I love it!

Francesco's

We had frozen chicken pizza for dinner a few nights ago. With garlic bread.

It made me think of Francesco's on 7800 South in Midvale, Ut.

Not that our frozen chicken pizza could even compare with the pizza I had as a kid at
Francesco's (or "Franchesco's" as we would sometimes say).

No, it was saying the words garlic bread and pizza together that triggered those memories.

Usually, we had take out and I remember my Dad calling in our order -

a large pizza with Canadian bacon and pineapple, and two orders of garlic bread.

Mmmmm.....I can smell it now!

Girls and no dogs allowed

Last Saturday, Christopher wanted to use my camera while we were at the races. I quickly snapped his picture and then handed it over. I've mentioned before that I love to let the kids use my camera because I never know what kind of pictures I'll get when they bring it back.

After seeing what Christopher produces, I've decided to make him the official track photographer. He took some great pictures!

I told him he should go get some shots of the people watching the race. He came back with these. The pretty girls, that's who he saw watching the race.

Christopher was concerned because someone had a dog in the pits. He told me the rules say no dogs allowed. I asked him if he had proof that there were dogs in the pits.

"Proof?" he said when he came back a few miniutes later. "Look at this proof!" I told him that was pretty cute proof so he went back to get some more (proof).

He did get some pictures of the races that turned out pretty good too.

Chris had his little buddy take a picture of his hat, so we would know that these pictures were taken at Pahrump Valley Speedway. Good thinkin' if you ask me.

I have an eight opening collage frame that I'm going to put together with his pictures that he can hang on his bedroom wall. The hard part is going to be finding the best eight pictures. Actually, I only need seven now, because this one will be included for sure.

Ahh - Picture #36

Sonic Burger seems to be the place where Kaylynn and I have mommy daughter dates. Kristy and Christopher had programs this day about an hour apart. So in between, we took Camron to get some lunch.

Otter Creek #2 - Picture #35

I love this collage of photos. I told you the story here of how Chad and I visited Otter Creek back in early October.
What I didn't tell you about was how strange it was to be back in this paticular camp site.

Strange because it was so familiar, like it was just yesterday since we were there last.

Strange because we could hear the laughter of the kids running around, our kids.

Strange because we could smell the campfire burning.

Strange because we found a piece of carpet that Chad is sure came from his parents house. It was tucked under a bush.

Strange because we could feel the presence of Chad's dad.

We made a pact while we were there. That we would come back to this spot, with our whole family. That we would bring them all here to camp and re-create the good times we spent here.

Only this time, we would be the mom and dad and it would be our kids and grandkids. And our kids would feel the same way we do. When they come back in 20 years. Because they will want to. And, they will have to.

We wrote letters to each other while we were there. That first picture of Chad is while he was writing his. The one below it, is him holding the bottle that we both put our letters in. The next picture is of him burying it next to the tree.

Since then, I have tried really hard to remember what my letter said, but the memory has already faded. I haven't asked Chad if he remembers what his said, I don't want to know.

We promised each other that if anything ever happens to one of us, the other will come here to retrieve the letters. I'm hoping it will be the kids who come back for the letters. I never want to do it.

Hats - Picture #31

Shopping at Walmart with Zachary is a challenge. He wants everything. Hats, shoes, clothes, toys. You name it, he wants it. Grandpa tried to ditch this hat at the check-out to no avail.

Elders - Picture #29

Elders Colby and Blackford. I have stories about these two. Maybe someday I will tell them.
This is the picture I use for the caller ID for the Elders. Elder Colby is gone now and has been replaced by Elder Reid. They are some great young men and it is truly a blessing having them live with us.

Sportsman of The Year?

We were very excited for the local paper to come out yesterday. The Pahrump Valley Times has been doing a top 12 sports stories of 2009 section. We were hoping so bad that the Pahrump Valley Speedway would be somewhere in those top 12. Numbers 5 through 12 had already been published in earlier editions and we had yet to be seen. Our only hope left was top 1 through 4 and that was almost too much to hope for. I'm sure you can imagine how surprised we were to see we were listed as top 4. The 1 through 3 top sports stories all belonged to Pahrump Valley High School.

My dear husband will be very embarrassed that I did this, but here is what the article says about the #4 Sports Story of 2009, as printed in the Pahrump Valley Times on January 1, 2010.
4 The Pahrump Valley Speedway closed down in October 2007. Eighteen months later, the facility on East Basin was revived, thanks to the work of Chad Broadhead and his crew. That was big news in the Pahrump Valley: a business reopens in what is a hellish economic situation and manages to complete a highly-successful season. In fact, the 2010 campaign is to start Jan. 9, with events slated almost every two weeks thereafter.

Hundreds of fans got to see some major motor-sports action from June through December and a couple hundred drivers in eight classes got to compete on the facility's quarter-mile dirt oval.

If there was an award for sportsman of the year in Nye County, Broadhead would get it. He took a shot at doing something previous promoters had problems doing, and kept the speedway going. It wasn't all checkered flags, but no one in valley speed-sports has seen the red flag unfurled.
All I can say is: WOW!
